Most
of the basic facilities that a common man deserves to enjoy this day, are still
far from the reach of rural communities, particularly, the poorer people.
A
section of women still depend upon the fire-wood, dry stalks collected
day-to-day for cooking food. It is but natural, they do suffer many lung
infections and other health issues.
SSM
had taken initiative by conducting a survey to understand the problems and way
out to help them stay healthy. The scheme of Central Government of India benefitted
only the category under BPL while those who were poor but not listed under BPL
remained untouched.
Considering
the situation, SSM identified such needy families and extended the benefit to 132
families so far by arranging the cost of connection (Rs 4,440/- per connection)
under Project ‘Arogya Jyoti’ – Clean Fuel. SSM has set a target to reach
at least 1000 beneficiaries from 7 nearby villages. Moreover, we also arranged
a demonstration to aware on safety usage and precautions to avoid accidents. Interestingly,
the programme is being implemented by a ‘Savitribai Phule Mahila Vikas
Mandal’, an apex body of SHG. The financial support will be recovered in 12
EMIs, interest free. The Caring Friends, Mumbai came up with the innovative
idea of providing LPG gas connections among the rural communities. The
beneficiaries and SSM are thankful for their timely support and guidance to
expand its outreach and benefit maximum number of beneficiaries.
